Bell (LiPS) Reading Program: The LiPS program is a
system that teaches phonemic awareness, blending, and sequencing
skills. LiPS begins by introducing each sound by how it looks
and how it feels while it is being produced. These two senses
then provide a basis for self-monitoring sound sequencing
and blending. The program is designed to:
- Stimulate the necessary auditory perceptual skills basic
to reading and spelling
- Teach strong sound-symbol association using multi-sensory
input
- Develop early rule-based reading skills for more rapid
generalization to home and classroom setting
